Successful season for Piopio Swim Club
THE 2025 season was again successful - with a huge thanks to the Piopio Pools Trust for immaculate maintenance of the pool complex. It is such a valuable asset to the community.
The season accommodated 70 swimmers through our Learn to Swim and Club swimming programmes, with swimmers in the pool over four afternoons for six weeks. Our club sits in a very healthy position with many coaches and assistants available to run the numbers registered and programmes that we do. All of these roles are voluntary and we are lucky to have passionate people
commit to upskilling our children's water skills.
This season the Carnival was held after a year off. 38 children from Piopio and Te Kuiti Swimming Clubs entered. Many happy swimmers with ribbons and spot prizes leaving at the end of the
day.
We are fortunate to have received grants from the Piopio District Charitable Trust for new shade umbrellas and stands, Grassroots Trust who cover the majority of the complex hire for the season, and Waitomo District Council - the Sport New Zealand Travel Grant and the Multi-year Community Partnership Grant.
School Swimming Sports and interschool swimming highlighted the ability and techniques of those who were Club swimmers and our swimmers represented our Club spectacularly, with very impressive results.
Club Champs was again a test of courage and bravery entering the cold pool temperatures to round off the 2025 season.
Our AGM and Club Prizegiving was held on Sunday, May 11. We farewelled and thanked Club President Matt Carter and family who have contributed so much to our Club, as a coach, volunteers and passion for swimming which will be missed in our community.
A huge congratulations goes out to all
our swimmers.
