News from Mokau Museum

MOKAU MUSEUM in collaboration with Mokau School, is super excited about a pilot project intended to trial an approach to share Te Reo and local histories within the community.

The aim is to use feedback and reflections to apply for funding to set up something more ongoing. So far, the sessions have been well attended. Rawina Te Huia as facilitator has kept us engaged and reflective with her combination of sharing local knowledge and experiences and fun pronunciation practice. Each week is a little different;weaving in personal stories and sharing from participants.

Cultivating a safe learning environment, the programme has encouraged us to keep coming back to share a laugh, ask questions and learn important history of our local area.

As a direct action project from Te Pumaomao Nationhood Building Seminar in July, we look forward to continuing to develop this initiative and share our progress relfections of this action project with Takawai and Chris Murphy in November.
