KC Hunt celebrates 50yrs
THE King Country Hunt celebrated 50 years of hunting in the King Country at our Opening Hunt in April this year. It was a very special weekend where we honoured one of our founding members and original huntsman, Trevor Benton. Unfortunately, Trevor passed away recently and the hunt has lost a life member, long time supporter of our Hunt and an absolute legend. We offer our deepest condolences to the Benton family.
The Hunt had another successful season and we continue with a small but enthusiastic membership. If you are a horse rider I encourage you to come and give hunting a go. Everyone welcome .
We have our fundraising 3-day trek coming up in November which is fully subscribed with a wait list for spaces. This is to be held at the stunning Waitoru Station. We also plan to hold a family trekking weekend at Piripiri Station on the March 6-7.
The need to fundraise is a big part of our Hunt. We run a cattle scheme and would love support from farmers to graze an animal for us. Please make contact if you are able to help us out with this:
Joy Hurley 027 577 7881 or
Cathryn Peacocke 021 326 707.
We are planning another celebration next Easter as it is our 50th year of being part of the NZ Hunts Association.
We have our AGM on the Monday, November 17, at the Senior Citizens hall Piopio. All welcome.
We also are in need of hound food, if you have unwanted horses give Shane a call on 021 033 5541.
