Aria Squash Club news

Birdtalk Magazine Dec 2023 & Jan 2024
SPRING INTERCLUB had a lower number of players this year, with farm jobs taking priority. However, we were still able to enter a mens team, and two ladies continued to play in teams from surrounding clubs.

Squash Waikato Awards Evening was held recently, with two of our junior players, Regan Bevege and Isaac Carter, attending to accept the new trophy for the Waikato Junior Interclub Winners. Twelve of our juniors took part in a competition that was held over six dates at different venues over the Waikato during Term 2 and 3.
Individual game points were combined to give Aria the win over-all.

With a few members still playing socially, competing in doubles tournaments and a fun interclub ‘bashers’ night taking place on Thursdays between Aria, Tekuiti and Taumarunui, we decided to run a round of social squash. Four teams of five players representing local areas (Aria, Mokauiti, Piopio, and Paekaka/Wairere) are battling it out in a short four-week stint before Christmas.

It’s great to have some new players coming out to give squash a go for the first time, as well as some that have dusted off the racquet after many years. We look forward to taking a short break over the summer, with planning underway for our AGM in January, membership renewal and key change early February, and Autumn Interclub starting early March.

We welcome new members and have lots of membership subscription options available.
Lee Alcock.
